South Asia Scholarships Program (SASP) for Nepal 2012-13

Information for awards commencing in 2013

Development Awards in Nepal

Australia’s international development assistance in Nepal aims to alleviate poverty and provide a peace dividend by focusing on service delivery in health, education, water, sanitation and hygiene and by providing jobs through micro-enterprise development. Most of Australia's assistance to Nepal is delivered through the Government of Nepal and in partnership with other donors and multilateral organizations. Scholarships to study in Australia are a key element of Australia’s support and integral to the Australian Government’s development cooperation across South Asia.

Australian Development Scholarships are aligned with Australia’s development assistance in Nepal, targeting human resource gaps in agreed priority sectors.  They aim to provide successful applicants with the skills and knowledge to drive change and influence economic and social development.

AusAID offers Development Awards on the basis of merit, transparency and equal access.  We strongly encourage applications from women, people with disability, and people from traditionally marginalised groups.

Priority Sectors

The priority areas of study for Australian Development Awards in Nepal are: Health, Education, Livelihoods/Poverty Alleviation, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Governance (Economics and Public Policy)
